Happy June!
Bye bye gloom
Happy 1st! Happy June! Happy 6! Happy Thursday! Happy newsletter day!
Life has been sweet. This season of life has been good to me. It has been fun and quiet. In almost every way, I feel like I am right where I am supposed to be. This is a feeling I do not take for granted. I’ve spent too much of my life feeling like I was behind, not doing enough, in the wrong city, at the wrong school or with the wrong people to ever take for granted feeling right.
I know that life doesn’t feel right because of any major change. It’s been a million small changes that have led me here. I don’t know how long I’ll get to enjoy this so instead of analyzing it and writing it out for you, I’m going to soak it all up. One day when I find the right words, maybe I will write about it. This season of life feels important so I’m paying attention.
I’m learning a lot. I’m trying to listen more than I talk and feel more than I think. It’s been nice. One of the loudest reminders has been,
We need space to recharge, rest and play.
My rest and my hard work balance each other. There is not one without the other.
If I rest without the work, I get restless. If I work without the rest, I get burned out.
This season of life has been sweet for a lot of reasons. I’m chasing goals, getting to know myself and defining what I want. None of this happens without recharge, rest and play. I hope you are making time for yourself. If you need ideas, here’s what I’ve been up to.
TO RECHARGE: read books, Substacks, op-eds; walks; go outside; spend time with good people; clean out my camera roll; yoga; tidy up my space; scroll Pinterest otherwise less screen time; make goals outside of work; eat well
TO REST: focus on good, deep, restorative sleep; drink water; float pods; sauna; red light therapy; massages; facials; eat well; nap; lay on a heating pad; take baths; trash TV; journal; movement; be gentle to myself; forgive
TO PLAY: date nights! solo! w people! w J! girls trips! girls nights! out and in!!
It’s okay to rest. It’s the only way you’ll get to where you’re going in one piece.
Love u all.
Stay rested,
xx K
P.S. Your rest is only restorative if you rest without guilt. Give your mind, body and spirit an actual break. Rest without guilt. If you’re going to take the time to rest, do it completely. Don’t half ass it. You owe it to yourself.
